'High School' - the movie, not the musical & kitchen inspiration

I'm going to do hard time (up to 14 hours) for low pay ($7.40/hr.) today and hopefully a couple more days this week as an extra on the set of High School which is being filmed at a vacant high school in Howell. Just what I needed to boost my Christmas budget! Here's the IMDb.com page for it: High School

[updated 7:30 p.m.] worked 10 hours today, as a 'nurse' from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Spent practically the whole time in 35 degree weather filming two scenes in what amounted to a set of short-sleeved scrubs. I think this thing is going to be rated R. No Adrien Brody sighting - I think his part is fairly small and he's not going to be on set until next week. Michael Chiklis was on set for the first part of the day. I have to go back tomorrow. Supposed to rain until 2:00. Will that make me a wet nurse? LOL I can't seem to warm up! brrrrr

[updated 11/12] Worked from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 only today - sooo glad! Did end up getting lightly rained on. Didn't melt, fortunately. May have to go back on Friday; will know by Thursday night. [link added 9/20/09] Very cold temp + wind = my own personal misery.

It is fun watching the film making process. It's amazing the volume of people needed to get it done. I mean, there's a guy whose job it is just to set the camera down on the director's shoulders. I got to sneak a peek at the dailies which I'd never gotten to do before.

[updated 11/14] We had to be on set in costume today for 8 hours but we never got called. We literally sat around for 8 hours (paid). I think the weather threw the schedule behind. We might have to go in next week. Following is a little video clip I found on Livingstondaily.com, the local area newspaper in the Howell area. I am standing in white scrubs awaiting my cue at the 2:00 mark. Eventually I walk through the scene in front of Chiklis but they didn't include it in this clip. [updated 11/16] I just noticed that I walk by at the :17 mark. Blink and you'll miss it!

-------------------------------------------------
We started re-doing our kitchen recently. We have these really dated stained oak cabinets and decided to paint them and paint the walls. We're painting the cabinets an antique white (and when I say "we" I mean "Eric"). I found this plate at TJ Maxx and fell in love with this particular shade of blue, and knew that it was the color that I want my kitchen walls to be.

Everything's a shambles in the kitchen right now but I plan on posting the "before" photos at the same time I post the "after" photos. Hopefully in a few weeks!

Sounds like it will be fun to be an extra on the movie. You will need to share your experience in that. Can't wait to see the kitchen redo! Good luck with that project.

Hello, Thanks so much for popping by my blog. I have had abit of a nosey through your posts and I was nodding in agreement on the one regarding family photos, its such a shame when there is no record of who people are. With scrapbooking being so popular now, future generations will have a record of their ancestors. I too think its such a shame when old photos turn up in junk shops, especially weddings. I wonder what our ancestors will think of our blogs stored forever in the virtual ether in 50 years time. They will probably think Im a cocktail drinking lush!! LOL!
P.S I like the pink fluffy telephone!

How fun but sounds a bit "chilly" on the set! You'll be glad when you get your check. Adore that shade of blue that you chose. :)Nancy
